Tarbert

Town Regeneration

As part of the Town Centre Regeneration Initiative Grant provided in 2009, by the Scottish Government to improve Tarbert Harbour and Town Centre, the old Dickies Boatyard site was cleared and landscaped.

A new amenity area on the old boatyard site has been partially formed, with picnic tables, sail shades, seating and flower containers. Recent additions also include an outdoor Gym area, barbecues and boules playing area.  A safe pedestrian footway has been created, linking the pontoons to the town centre and onto Tarbert Castle, and the beginning of the Kintyre Way. The footway has succeeded in making the centre of the village a more pleasant place to visit and relax and has made it easier to access the village centre from the pontoons and vice versa.

The Initiative marks the beginning of an ambitious plan by the Harbour Authority to provide much needed improvements to the existing facilities. These facilities will include for new harbour offices, toilets and shower block.

Pontoons

We were also involved in a project that involved a substantial upgrade and extension to the existing pontoons at Tarbert Harbour. The harbour hosts the Scottish Series annually so needs to maintain a high standard of facilities.
